SNOW MAN
Short film | 2024
My 17th (and as it turned out, last) annual Christmas video, and possibly the first one that wasn't (deliberately) humorous – although my art and animation skills are certainly laughable. Pro tip: don't leave yourself three days to try and make an animated video when you don't know what you're doing and are using new software for the first time.
A lot of decisions were made on the fly and in a rush. I started with trying to capture a mood and then had to try and make some sort of loose narrative and as it's Christmas, the hint of a happy ending (OR IS IT?) while wanting to leave it ambiguous.
What's it about? Depression, connection, longing, the state of the world, hope, love, loss, memory, healing, time? Or is it just about a man who's fallen in a vat of mayonnaise and is having hallucinations as it turns rancid? We will never know, or care.
Shot, edited and animated by me using Procreate Dreams and DaVinci Resolve.
